Over recent years I’ve been at work between Christmas and New Year. This year is no exception.
Rather than feel that I’m losing out, I look on this time as an annual opportunity… for micro-productivity. Given that there are (generally) no meetings and fewer people around, I use the time to do some of those jobs that I tend to de-prioritise during the rest of the year. So over the next few working days my cupboards will be cleared; files will be organised; contacts will be updated and to do lists and personal action plans re-written. I’ll also finalise and submit my cpd return.
At the end of each day I expect to feel that progress has been made, and that I’m a wee bit closer to starting the new year with a clear plan and with ‘cleared decks’.
Small stuff, but important in its own right.
