Saturday review: HDR app

Yesterday’s Friday photo was processed (partly) in an iPad app called HDR by Lucky Clan. I’m certainly not an expert in HDR (high dynamic range), but this easy to use app seems to provide some scope for fun. It allows you to combine two photos – one dark, one light – and then apply one of four preset mixes.

I guess that it would frustrate anyone keen to explore HDR fully, there’s no ability to manually adjust the images. The app processes your chosen photos and then the only options are the preset mixes.

Yesterday’s photo was produced by combining the two images below using the HDR app, then doing a bit of sharpening in Photoshop Elements. I’m pleased with the end product.

Summary: A fun and useful app with limited functionality – but what can you expect for £1.50? It meets my needs given that HDR isn’t an area that I intend to explore much.
